In this session you will learn the what, why, how, when, and where around non-relational (NoSQL) database technologies. Here you will understand the different types of NoSQL data storage options that are in popular use now. These include graph databases, such as Neo4j and Freebase; key-value stores such as DynamoDB and Cassandra, document data stores such as MongoDB and column data stores such as Hadoop. You will learn about both locally hosted versions of these data stores as well as cloud-based versions. Importantly, you'll understand when to use which type(s) of data stores to best suit your business requirements.

You will learn:

  • WHEN to use NoSQL (vs. RDBMS) - for which business scenarios
  • WHICH type of NoSQL is right for which type of business scenario, i.e. when to use a graph database, when to use a columnstore and will see an example (DEMO) of each type
  • The major vendor's cloud noSQL offerings (AWS, Google, Azure) and be able to differentiate between those offerings
