Are you interested in starting a data warehousing project but are unsure of the necessary steps, including the pitfalls you'll need to avoid? Join Craig Utley for a full-day workshop that walks through the entire process of data warehousing. You'll learn about designing a dimensional model to address a business issue, design the ETL (extraction, transformation, and loading) to load the dimensional model, build an Analysis Services cube from the dimensional data, and then deliver the data using a variety of tools to support diverse user needs. Craig Utley has been working with the Microsoft BI stack since the betas of SQL Server 7.0 and is a former Program Manager with the Microsoft SQL Server Customer Advisory Team (SQLCAT), where he worked with some of the world's largest SQL Server data warehouses. This workshop will not only show you how to build a warehouse, but will also discuss best practices and pitfalls.

You will learn:

  • How to start a project the right way from the beginning
  • Understand the major decision points along the way
  • How to create and manage a project to maximize the chances of success
